We funded this project via Kickstarter. This here is the link to our successful campaign.
I know there is a way to embed the whole page here so as to save you some clicks...but I'm simply not quite up to doing it. So, I'm terribly sorry, but in order to see the video we made (thank you Elliott Hickey for your brilliant filming/editing skills) about the Brixton Drawing Project, and to read the info about the project, and see the total amount of money that very very kind souls gave to this end,
And this is the very short article I wrote about the three things NO-ONE knows about crowdfunding...
Three things NO-ONE knows about crowdfunding...
Seriously! I have spoken to perhaps 200 people in the last few wonderful/exhausting/but wonderful weeks. I tell them initially about this project that I'm working on - this kind of immersive drawing marathon with performances, lectures, a gallery selling prints etc, and they understand, although it isn't straightforward and one rake even called it avant-garde (it isn't). But what my friends/family/colleagues/connections really don't know until I explain, are the following:
1. WHAT CROWDFUNDING IS... Obvious you might think! Of course we know that it is a way of funding projects using small amounts of money from lots of interested people. These kind and wonderful backers are then fully part of whichever project they have handed their hard-earned cash to - receiving special gifts and rewards once the project is fully funded.
2. And this leads on to the second thing: that THE PROJECT DOESN'T RECEIVE ANY OF THE HARD-WON PLEDGED MONEY UNLESS IT REACHES ITS TARGET. Thats right..NOT A PENNY!
And 3. THERE'S A TIME LIMIT A project is only available for funding for a limited time. After that, its gone. Forgotten. Done.
Of course once kind people realise these three things, and see the sparkly glint in my eye and my smiling face while I talk about making my particular project happen. they are only too happy to help.
Thank you again a million times over to those who did this time!
